Ingredients
  

  • 450 g ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio recommended
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or American cheese
  • 4 burger buns toasted
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 medium onion sliced into rings
  • 4 lettuce leaves1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Grill pan or Skillet for cooking the patties
  • 2 Spatula for flipping the burgers
  • 3 Mixing bowl to mix and season the ground beef
  • 4 Knife for slicing tomato and onion
  • 5 Cutting board for prepping vegetables
  • 6 Toaster or Pan for toasting the buns

Method
 

  1. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about ¾ inch thick. Season with salt and pepper.

  2. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side, until desired doneness.

  3. Add a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking, cover, and let it melt.

  4. Toast burger buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet.

  5. Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the buns. Layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and the cheesy beef patty.

Notes

  • For a tropical twist, add a grilled pineapple slice to the burger.
  • You can swap cheddar cheese with Swiss or pepper jack for extra flavor.
